Unlocking Africa's Potential Through Philanthropy

The Africa Philanthropy Network (APN) is a continent-wide platform of member organizations, with a virtual secretariat, headquartered in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. APN has been promoting the voice and action for African philanthropy since 2009, and working with communities to build networks that elevate the power and value of philanthropic giving practices in people-led development. #GivingAndPower

ABOUT US

What Is African Philanthropy?

We believe that Africa can effectively mobilize domestic resources such as nature, human, financial, social and intellectual assets to tackle its own development challenges. This creates opportunities for building collaboration and trusted partnerships within the continent and beyond.

Citizen Agency

At APN, we equate Africa philanthropy with citizen agency -the capacity of individuals to act independently and make their own choices.

Forms Of Giving

African philanthropy includes foundation and funds, family and community based, individual donors and collective solidarity mechanisms, and social investments
